Todd Pletcher saddles a pair of strong contenders in Friday's GIII Pimlico Special S. in Vindictive (Uncle Mo) and Untreated (Nyquist). A two-time winner at Saratoga last year, the well-related Vindictive closed 2021 with a third in Aqueduct's Discovery S. Nov. 27. He kicked off this season with an optional claimer win at that venue Mar. 25.
His stablemate Untreated captured an Aqueduct allowance in November and won a muddy optional claimer at that venue a month later. Sixth behind recent GII Alysheba S. romper Olympiad (Speightstown) in the GIII Mineshaft S. in February, the bay was last seen coming up a head short of Forewarned (Flat Out) in the Big A's Excelsior S. Apr. 2.
'TDN Rising Star' First Captain (Curlin) adds blinkers while getting some class relief here after a well-beaten seventh in the GI Carter H. Apr. 9. He rallied to victory in a Gulfstream optional claimer going seven furlongs prior to that Feb. 27.
